OPEN CALL!
Performers, we need your talents this summer!
Whether you perform Shakespeare or juggle knives, have the entire summer free to trod the boards or just a couple of days available, we have a once-in-a-lifetime experience
waiting for you!
~ Faire Performers ~
Become an integral member of our "roaming" cast of characters!
(Mainstage performance opportunities will be included for Faire characters in addition to the "street" performance, but the primary focus will be maintaining and interacting as your character "off-stage.")
Tuesday and Thursday, May 27 & 29
7 PM, Addison Village Hall
** IMPROVISATIONAL ACTORS **
Have you ever been (or wanted to be) the king or queen of a madrigal dinner? On the royal court at a Renaissance Faire? Live-action roll-played or gamed?
Or did you, perhaps, singularly embody the 1-and-only Capt. Jack [that would be Sparrow, not Harkness] all last Halloween, if you do say so yourself?
Then We Want You (Matey)!
Audition for the roles of Colony Governor, Govenor's Lady (wife and/or daughter, as ages dictate), British Military/Naval Commander, or Pirate Captain/First Mate.
Auditions will consist of improvisational exercises.
** COMEDIANS **
We are especially looking for two individuals to play "comedic pirate captains" to roam the seas [ok, the Faire] in a bottomless rowboat, cursed to forever [ok, for the day] throw barbs and jests at the landlubbers, but prepared "piratical" acts are also welcome.
[Note - there will be no ACTUAL throwing of objects at our patrons. Yes, that includes the rowboat. Sorry. Darn lawyers.]
Of course, there's also the all-important and oh-so-historically-(in)accurate-role of "Pirates of the Ottoman Empire." Only requirement? No commenting on your empire's upholstery (what's so wrong with 70's paisley, after all?)
Please prepare a two-minute comedy routine for audition.
** JUGGLERS, ACROBATS, (STAGE) SWORD FIGHTERS,
TIGHTROPE WALKERS, ETC **
What is a Faire without YOU?? Need I say more?
Please bring two minutes of your best stuff to Audition.
** SINGERS & INSTRUMENTAL MUSICIANS **
Please come on out and add to our atmosphere! The fairegrounds are quite large, so there will be plenty of performance space separate from the noise of the mainstage.
We are especially looking for 2-3 female singers to dress as Mermaids and roam the Faire, seeking out unwary sailors with their Siren song!
(Yes, we know the Sirens weren't actually mermaids, but this isn't really the place for that discussion, now is it?)
Recorded artists? Please feel free to sell your CD's as you entertain the guests! No vendor charges!
We can provide chairs and possibly small tables (if you let us know far in advance, please!). You would be responsible for your instrument(s), music stands, and any CD-selling boxes/stands/signage.
Please prepare at least 16 bars for Audition.
** MASCOTS **
We are looking for anyone willing to dress themselves or their little loved one as a parrot (under 4' tall) or a monkey (infant/toddler). The costumes are awesome!
You (or your child) would NOT need to be in the costume the entire day - we understand we will be outside in Chicagoland in August.
No auditions necessary. Please just let us know you are interested!

Workshop Performance
Theater professionals will help students develop their acting and singing techniques, along with dancing, rehearsal skills, and stage craft during our Youth Theatre Workshop.
Children ages 7 - 15 will learn how lyrics are written and how to prepare scripts. Participants will write their own "Pirates" script as part of the workshop, for performance on Friday, August 1 and Saturday at the Faire!
